Professional "Starcraft II" player?Ilyes ?Stephano? Satouri, 19,?was suspended without pay for October and fined for making offensive sexual comments in a livestream.
?
U.S.-based professional gaming organization Evil Geniuses said the French player will not be eligible to join online and offline competitions for the rest of the month.
?
"The full extent of the ramifications for Stephano?s comments is yet to be determined. The decision to suspend him, without pay, for the rest of October is final, but the situation is still being reviewed internally at EG, and we do not consider the matter closed as of yet," the group said in an online post.?
Satouri?s suspension means he will not be able to take part in the upcoming GD Invitational and DreamHack Bucharest tournaments for which he was previously signed up for.
?
"We sincerely apologize to the respective organizers of these tournaments for any inconvenience the last-minute cancellations may cause. That apology, however, obviously comes as secondary to a much more significant and direly-needed apology for Stephano?s inexcusable comments themselves," said EG.
?
Satouri?s suspension is due to a private message he sent over Battle.net to fellow Starcraft II player and friend, Team Dignitas' Samayan "BlinG" Kay, about abusing a 14-year-old child.
?
The comments were broadcast live online.
?
"Stephano apologized on Twitter later that day saying it was just a 'private joke, nothing serious.' Some fans did not feel his apology was satisfactory, and began to email Evil Geniuses sponsors about his actions, including Intel, Monster Energy, and Steel Series," GameSpot said.?
EG itself apologized for his comments, which it said "do not reflect our company?s sense of morality, behavior and propriety, and they will not be tolerated."
?
Satouri himself apologized for his comments last week.
?
"They were insensitive, inappropriate, way over the line, and are deserving of the serious ramifications I have received from my team. I accept responsibility for my mistake, and I will be more careful in the future,? he said. ? DVM, GMA News
